One had to keep up appearances in those days. The fans expected it of her. So did the studios.
But when nobody was looking she wore an unaffected coat like this.
And she would walk the little gravel path near the ocean in it, her hands inside the pockets for warmth, thinking her own private thoughts that may not have been much more complicated than what she had on.
In later years she’d walk around New York City in it, still in her private world.
She never owned an evening dress, or wore makeup. Yet she was, by most standards, the most elegant (and mysterious) woman in the world. Not that she cared.
What she had, money could never buy. (And she had money.)
Secret Thoughts Coat (No. 2488). Simple, mid-thigh length cut of rich wool/cashmere. Full, straight sleeves. One real horn button in front. Pull the big, well-shaped hood over your head and slip your hands into the deep pockets when you want to be alone. Jacket is unlined.
Color: Incognito Dark Olive.
