Volunteering is the perfect way to give of yourself. In these difficult economic times the need becomes even greater. You focus away from your own troubles and concentrate on others. Somehow your worries melt away in the simple act of service. You can give whatever you can, an hour here or there, in a nursing home or perhaps an animal shelter; or collect warm clothes for donation. Do you know a neighbor going through a rough patch? Does the elderly woman on your street need her sidewalks shoveled when it snows? There are myriad ways to help. Of course the truth is that no one benefits more than you for in the giving is the gift.
