Burberry Fall 2009

BURBERRY: A pleated trench over a layered silk dress.

Christopher Bailey was smart. The Burberry designer settled for a poetic English perspective, bolstered by good-looking coats and a new version of the trench with a pleated skirt. Plainly, he felt completely free to show kilts and tapered trousers in speckled tweeds and muddy checks, usually with a rumpled white shirt. There was a lot to like. One of the coolest looks was a layered black silk skirt — about to the knee — with a white shirt and black platform booties.
