Lipstick

When I first got divorced and money was tight, I would always lipstick shop to make myself feel better. Lipstick truly has a transformative power. Unfortunately after 50, red is not a good choice. A perfect shade of pink won’t seep into those pesky lip lines. We like Origins “Hyacinth” and Bare Escentuals “Berry Glace”. Be careful with lip liner. If you outline your lips in too dark a color first you run the risk of looking like Betty Davis in “Who is afraid of Baby Jane”. Seriously, it can look scary. If you use a liner in the same shade as your lipstick and apply it on top of your lipstick it can add some staying power. There is a clear lip liner, D’finer D’liner by benefit that when applied under your lipstick will help to minimize lip lines and will keep your lipstick from running. Don’t forget to occasionally use a lip scrub to exfoliate. Laura Geller, ‘lip strip” is gentle and effective. Just remember that on even the worst of days there is always lipstick.
